Gale Launches Second Installment of the Archives of Sexuality and Gender Series

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 14, 2017 — Gale, a Cengage company and leading provider of library resources, has released the second part of the award-winning LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940 collection, which documents a broad range of LGBTQ experiences and the fight for equal rights.

“Gale is committed to meeting the growing demand for diverse and timely content, like this new installment of the Archives of Sexuality & Gender series, which we are pleased to release during Pride Month,” said Paul Gazzolo, senior vice president and general manager for Gale. “Students, educators, and researchers can explore a vast array of materials and uncover important connections across the development of LGBTQ culture and activism, linking history to the issues facing us today.”

LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940, Part II complements and broadens the depth of content provided by the first installment in the series, and provides significant historical context for understanding the lasting impact and influence of the LGBTQ movement. More than 1.4 million pages of content from newsletters, periodicals, photographs, personal papers, manuscripts, pamphlets, and other types of primary sources, highlights underrepresented and often-excluded groups within the LGBTQ community.

LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940 collection is part of the Archives of Sexuality & Gender series, the largest digital archive of unique and rare primary source content on gender, sexuality and identity. The archive is digitally optimized for researchers and offers insight into topics surrounding history, psychology, sociology, LBGT and queer studies, women’s and gender studies, political science, and American and British studies. The third installment is in the planning stages with the product’s advisory board.
