Cengage to Host Virtual Panel Discussion on Future of OER
BOSTON, June 22, 2017 – Cengage, an education and technology company, will host a live, virtual panel discussion to serve as the finale to the company’s open educational resources (OER) podcast series, The Journey to OER.
The panelists will discuss the current state of OER in higher education, the future of OER in the classroom, and the roles that instructors, institutions, and education companies play in utilizing OER to improve student outcomes and affordability.
When: The one-hour panel discussion will take place on Wednesday, June 28 at 3 PM EST.

- Barbara Illowsky – Chief Academic Affairs Officer at California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative, author of “Introductory Statistics” by OpenStax, and member of the international Board of Directors of the Open Education Consortium
- Shelley Jaye – Assistant Professor of Geology at Northern Virginia Community College and a contributor to The Journey to OER podcast series
- Jeremey Smith – Librarian working in the Scholarly Communication Office on Open Education Resources at University of Massachusetts – Amherst
