Cengage Group at ASU + GSV 2024: The Sessions You Don’t Want to Miss
The ASU + GSV Summit is one of the most important and impactful gathering of leaders in the education and workforce skills space. For the last 15 years, this event has brought together educators, investors, innovators and entrepreneurs to explore how innovation in education can be accelerated.
This year’s conference, taking place in San Diego, Calif. April 14-17, will see more than 16,000 individuals come together to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing our systems of education today, as well as the innovation driving change.

The Future of Education at Scale
Cengage Group CEO, Michael Hansen, will join Arizona State University President, Michael Crow, and other industry leaders to explore how technology and innovative teaching methods aim to make quality education widely accessible.
This session will delve into the role of digital platforms and personalized learning in overcoming educational barriers, fostering lifelong learning and adapting to the changing job market. Experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities of online education, focusing on equity, access and the evolving function of traditional education in a landscape where education is increasingly flexible and tailored to individual needs.

Bridging the Political Divide: The 2024 Election’s Impact on Education and Workforce Advancement
Rosemary Lahasky, Cengage Group’s Sr. Director of Government Affairs, will join representatives from Whiteboard Advisors, TOGETHER!, Education and Work and Jobs for the Future to discuss many of the hot button education issues on the 2024 ballot – from parental rights, to higher education reform and non-degree careers.
This session will bring together a bipartisan panel of policy experts to discuss the impact of the 2024 election and analyze how ongoing political trends are affecting learners and workers. In this session, panelists will focus on how policymakers can work together to support workforce development that benefits all learners and workers – regardless of political affiliation.

David vs. Goliath In The AI Arena: Where Is The Entrepreneur Opportunity?
In what is likely to be a riveting panel discussion reminiscent of a modern-day David vs. Goliath saga, industry experts will examine the evolving landscape of AI development, with big corporations as formidable Goliaths and small companies as nimble Davids.
Cengage Group CTO, Jim Chilton, will join panelists from Kyron Learning, NVIDIA and GSV ventures to explore the intricate dance between these giants and underdogs within the dynamic realm of artificial intelligence. The conversation will dive into the strategic maneuvers of larger corporations with vast resources, juxtaposed against the agility and innovation exhibited by smaller entities striving to carve their niche in the AI frontier.
The “David vs. Goliath In The AI Arena: Where Is The Entrepreneur Opportunity?” session will take place on Tuesday, April 16 from 11:00-11:40 a.m. PST.
Moving Beyond Plagiarism: GenAI in Higher Education
This thought-provoking discussion will seek to understand how higher education leaders are preparing for the challenges and opportunities brought by generative AI (GenAI), and what it means for the future of Higher Ed.
In this session, Thais Alencar, Cengage Group’s VP of AI Product, will join representatives from edX, Vanderbilt University, National University and McKinsey to explore the potential of GenAI to promote an institution’s mission and enhance learning, research and administrative processes, as well as the complex challenges they present in terms of ethics, policy, academic integrity, workforce development and more.
The “Moving Beyond Plagiarism: GenAI in Higher Education” panel will take place on Tuesday, April 16 from 3:50-4:30 p.m. PST.
